International Children Music Competition “TEREMOK”

The International Music Competition “Teremok” is not just a prestigious contest of young talents. For 13 years since its foundation, the Teremok contest has become an integral part of the musical life of St. Petersburg, a real celebration for all Russian music lovers and fans of children’s vocal and instrumental art.

Every year, Teremok collects in the northern capital a constellation of talents from different parts of Russia to discover the new names of the virtuosos of the playing on the accordion, bayan, balalaika, domra, gusli, as well as performers of folk songs and traditional folklore. The participants of the competition are ensembles and soloists from 7 to 18 years old. Professors of leading creative universities, famous musicians and creative figures of St. Petersburg and Moscow are invited to the jury of the competition.

Taking the inexhaustible wealth of folk culture and the glorious traditions of a professional Russian performing school as an ideological basis, the “Teremok” contest sets its goal not only to preserve these traditions, but, above all, to find and support those who are destined to be worthy followers the future, whose creative potential is already embodied in striking achievements, and musical talent is capable of evoking joy and admiration. It is these young citizens who will in the future become the pride and glory of Russian culture. The laureates of the competition have repeatedly performed abroad, successfully representing Russia at international forums in Germany (the action “Mission of the World – Open Europe”), France (“Days of St. Petersburg in Bordeaux”), Austria (“International Children’s Art Camp”), summit reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of Russia, Sweden Days of Russian Culture in Stockholm, Italy (FeelRussia “Feel Russia!” project), etc.
